How To Build Your Brand With Your Own Book Or Magazine

Hi …. this is Glenn Walford here and I’ve just finished up today on the Our Internet Secrets teleconference call for Our Internet Secrets members.

What I was talking about today was how to build your brand with your own book or magazine?

I have put together a whole book series in my niche on franchising of 5 books and also put together a magazine that has got national distribution.

I talked about some details about how you can do that.  As I did all this as a self-published person and I’ve been able to do that inside 18 months.

Your Own Book Is The “New Black”

What I covered in the teleconference today was why getting your content in print is the “new black”.

When we talk about things being the new black everything seems to be going digital with online content – where I view that there is definitely an opportunity to get a book in print and that can be the thing that people are physically holding.  So when you are using a book to build your brand and you’ve got it in print you can take it:

  • to listing presentations
  • to appointments to try and close deals
  • seal deals for lead generation

And that is going to be the key point of difference that you can hand over.

Imagine handing over something to say “here you go, I wrote the book on it”.  That is going to be the key thing and that is why I see that a book is the “new black” because everyone wants to send you a PDF of content, you’re going to have a book that you can show people and it’s not going to be just a brochure.  It’s going to be a book on your whole business and about you.

Benefits of Being An Author

I talked about the benefits of getting in print as an author.  Most recently at a workshop in front of a couple hundred people – we asked everyone how they viewed an author and we came up with words that were thrown at me from the audience were things like:

  • An author is an expert
  • An author is credible
  • An author has authority

And all that sort of thing kept coming out of the audience.  So regardless of whatever is happening with books and going on online, people still firmly see an author as credible and the expert.  That can be you in your own niche if you get your own book or even your own magazine in print.

Steps To Building Your Own Book

I talked about 4 steps to building your own book.  They are:

  1. Decide on your topic and your twist
  2. Write your book
  3. Get published
  4. Make your marketing happen

These are things that are broken down into 4 pretty straight forward steps and I went through all of those today.  It was really good fun going through those.

Your Own Magazine

Finally I talked about getting your own magazine.  Many people would not have dreamed about getting a book let alone getting a magazine happening.  I talked about how you can repurpose content from the book that you have and you can create the content for almost an entire series of magazines out of it.

So you can get a magazine that goes beyond you just having a brochure about you or your business but actually having a magazine where you can put a whole bunch of ways to monetise that magazine at the same time by creating connections and joint ventures with your peers and your suppliers in whatever business you are in.

It’s an amazingly powerful tool and you can have it in print or in the new digital page flip technology and I talked a lot about that.

How To Make Money Using Webinars

Today I was on the phone with Steve Essa. Steve is also known as the “Webinar Guy”. He took us through the 7 secrets to making big money with webinars.

What’s Exciting About Webinars?

What was really exciting about that is learning about the platform of webinars and how you can get your sales message across. Or any message in fact, to educate your clients and motivate them to take action, to buy your stuff or go and do something else that you need them to do.

It is a powerful media and technology that allows Steve to be very successful online and be able to live the life that he wants to live by travelling around the world and doing all sorts of things.

So, some of the key points that he took us through were 7 points that he wanted us to learn about making money with webinars.

How To Choose Your Webinar Platform

This is the first point that Steve talked about. He said that choosing your webinar platform is very important, making sure that you are getting the right technology to start with and choosing that technology is key to getting a good quality product out there.

Choosing The Right Webinar Model

The second point he talked about is choosing the right webinar model. You can do your webinars in a number of different ways and choosing the right model for the message that you have is pretty important as well. Steve went through a number of different models that you can use to promote or sell product.

How To Promote The Webinar

There is no point in having the best webinar in the world unless you actually have people there listening to the webinar. So promoting the webinar is very important. He shared with us heaps of ways of driving traffic to your webinar and having people turn up.

Running The Webinar

Steve talked about some of the things that you need to do to run your webinar.

How To Collect The Money At The Webinar

He talked about how to get people who are listening to your message on the webinar to be able to get money into your bank account. He showed us the mechanics of how to do that.

How To Automate Your Webinar

What this basically means is that once you have your webinar recorded – you do your webinar once – you record it and you can then set it up on auto pilot and set it to run automatically when you are not there. He has some very clever ways of doing that as well.

So, what this basically means is that you can have a webinar running when you’re not there. It sounds like you’re talking and delivering your messages that you want, but it means that you don’t have to be there or be involved.

The Importance Of Using Affiliates

He talked about how affiliates can go out and sell your webinar on your behalf as well. These were some more advanced strategies that he covered there, but that really helps you super charge your program you can effectively make lots of cash from other people’s efforts.

Renovate Or Detonate

Hi there – its Andrew Grant here and I wanted to tell you about a phone call I’ve had with one of our Faculty members, Janet Beckers.

Now, Janet is the founder and operator of a fantastic site called www.wonderfulwebwomen.com – I suggest you go and check that site out. It’s a fantastic site in which Janet has been able to be totally successful online setting up her business – and she has also talked about how other women from all around the world have been able to do the same.

Janet has made a craft out of being able to interview people and extract some of their success secrets.

How to know if your business is good or bad?

What Janet was talking about today though was when do you know when your online business is a good business or a bad business?

Is it something that you should work on a bit more – and renovate it – or is it something that you should detonate and get rid of it?

The topic of her call today was “Renovate or Detonate?” and she took us through a number of key strategic tools that you can use to assess your business to work out where it is you are at the moment.

Now … it is really key to be able to see whether you are flogging a dead horse sometimes or determine if there is gold in that business. You seem like you’ll have to put a lot of effort and time into it – and do you know whether it is worth taking it to the next step and putting that effort in?

Update On Google Adwords For Ebooks

The 5 Keys To Work Smarter Not Harder

Today I had the pleasure of talking to Paul Blackburn, a good friend of mine, and also a mentor of mine. Paul has been responsible for giving me the tools to help me really identify and remove subconscious blockages to success. And more importantly, Paul has given us the tools to help us address lots of challenges around our mindset.

Resolving The Mindset Riddle

Now … Paul is the author of “Resolving The Mindset Riddle” – it’s a new book that’s coming out very soon and I got him on the call today to ask him about that book and also to get some of the key things around mindset and what are some of the key things that we need to do.

Paul talked about 5 keys to working smarter and not harder. He talked about how to deal with procrastination. He said it is one of the key problems that he gets from a lot of his clients – they keep coming up with procrastination in the sense that they know that they want to do something but they just never get around to doing it.

He said that’s not just being lazy – there is actually a process that is going on behind the scenes at a subconscious level.

Paul gave us some key tools on how to deal with that. It was really fantastic.

The Concept of The Gap

He also went through and talked about how self-esteem or the way that you see yourself can impact on what level of success you allow yourself to have. He talked about how intuition plays a part in your mindset. He introduced the concept of the gap – and it’s a really clever little tool that you can use to allow you to stop impulsive behaviour or behaviour that is not supportive of your goals and where you want to go in the future.

Membership Sites

Hullo and welcome to Our Internet Secrets. We have just gotten off the phone talking to Our Internet Secrets members and today’s topic was all about membership sites. This has been for the last 5 years probably one of our best and most consistent money makers online.

The reason that we were talking about it today is that we were sharing some of the new and innovative things that we’ve been doing on our membership sites. Particularly the platform that we’ve been using to put the site on. It is easier to use in terms of being able to use the site.

I would guess that from most people that I have talked to that the biggest thing that they are after is passive income and stable income online. Membership sites are fantastic for that. They give you the ability to make the sale once and get paid on a regular basis – each week or each month – however, you set it up.

You make the sale once and getting paid over and over again is a fantastic thing and once you do that enough – it really is the key to making you financially independent.

The other thing that we love about membership sites and the availability of getting that passive income coming in is that it allows you to set up a business and provide extra value to your business. So if you are looking at selling your business or selling the sites themselves, this gives you a great base and adds more value to the prospective buyer and gives you more money in your pocket.

Why Social Media Is Important For Your Marketing

Hi – its Annette Welsford here … today in our teleconference call we were joined by the Social Media Princess, Julie Mason, who gave us a wonderful overview on why social media is so crucial to your marketing and how you can actually use different types of social media and social networking sites to really give a fantastic boost to your business.

Some of the key points that Julie mentioned were the social media statistics, eg., with 660,000,000 people sign into Facebook every day and spend at least an hour there. Isn’t that amazing. Those statistics just blew my mind.

And then, of course, there are other key social media sites that people are using constantly to not only communicate with their friends, but also to seek out businesses, to seek out help, and to use it as a business networking tools. They are sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare, YouTube, Blogging … Julie covered quite a few of the different key social media websites and networks.

Julie also gave us an indepth look at how you can use social media to build your list and showed us some examples of some wonderful customised pages that she has designed for her clients on Facebook which have been used to build their prospect lists.

Mistakes In Social Media

Some mistakes that people make when marketing their business on social media involves too much selling. There is a certain formula and type of things that you can do to build relationships and improve your chances of building your business online.

She also looked at how to identify and attract the right customers on social media. There are certain things you can do so that you are attracting the sort of people who are interested in your business.

The Power Of Facebook “Like”

She then looked at what you should be posting about. That was quite interesting when she gave us some examples of the sorts of things that you could be doing to attract comments, to get a lot of “likes” and there is definitely a strategy behind this “liking” thing which I didn’t know before and it is very interesting how you can use the “liking” thing to really build a large marketing network.

We had a look at the difference between marketing and advertising and how to make sure that you have the right mix in your posts … and finally, we looked at how to develop a social media strategy.

There is more to it than putting up a Facebook page and hoping people will come and buy your product. That is definitely not the way to go. There is a definite strategy behind it – and it was fascinating and Julie will be sharing a lot of this in a lot more detail and demonstrating on stage how to do all of this at her Social Media workshop which is taking place in Surfers Paradise in the Q1 building next week.
