What To Be Aware Of When Starting An Internet Business

The top 7 obstacles that will stop you from achieving internet success are:

Getting distracted by bright shiny objects (BSOs)
Over-analysing the opportunities in the early stages
Getting overwhelmed
Procrastination
Chicken Littles
The “I don’t haves” (time, money, technical skills, creativity, etc)
Sub-conscious blockages

And here are the keys to success we’ve found in implementing new projects:

Set a clear specific goal
Prioritise the possible methods you could use to achieve the goal – choose ONE project to start on
Prepare a project plan with allocated time and resources – based on a proven home business system
Follow the plan to completion, monitoring and fine tuning on the way
Celebrate your success

Jewels of Wisdom – Internet Sales Letters

Jewel #3 – Sales Letters – How Long Should They Be

I had a question last week about how long should your sales letter be when doing online marketing. The answer to this question is “as long as it needs to be”.

Its not about how long the sales letter should be … you need to be asking yourself – “Is my sales letter boring?”

You have to capture the attention of your internet audience. Here are some key points to help you:

compelling headline – this is the most important part of your letter – because if you can’t get their attention here, people will click off and not get to read anymore
engaging story – or what is also referred to as your “hook”. This draws people into a journey about what you are selling
powerful bullets – use bullet points to highlight the features and benefits of your product
awesome offer – this is very important … you want to be giving extraordinary value and have your potential customer say to themselves “I’d be stupid if I didn’t buy!”
outrageous guarantee – when you sell a product that really does what you claim – make your guarantee so inviting that – in your potential customers eyes – its a no brainer purchase

Jewel #4 – How Do I Create A PDF

This question comes into the Help Desk at Our Internet Secrets regularly … so thought I would share the answer here for everyone.

YES … you can turn your ebook or any other document that is printable into a PDF easily and for FREE.

One of the questions I personally had was – can I put links in my PDF document? With this software yes you can.

It’s as simple as creating your document in Word with your links. Use this software and your document will be converted into a PDF and with active links.

HINT: Another cool thing that I use this software for is – when I buy online, I like to keep a copy of my receipt without printing a physical copy. I use this software to convert the online receipt or invoice into a PDF file and save it in my tax folder on my computer.

Jewel #1 – Finding Your Stats In Your Google Adwords Campaign

I got a distressed call from one of our members who was running an adwords campaign – and he said: “I know that my ads are showing because it tells me which keywords have the highest conversion on the home page, but there are no stats appearing in my ads campaign.”

The solution: At the top of your ad campaign there is a date area – if you have your date set to last 7 days – sometimes your stats for today won’t appear. Manually change the dates to the days you want to see and you will see all your stats.

Jewel #2 – Where Can I Find A Virtual Assistant

Some of our members are using a company called Odesk. Just like any employer/employee relationship you need to be very specific about the tasks you want your Virtual Assistant to do.

If the person you have employed is not doing the job you want, let them go – and find a new one. In the virtual assistant world, this is standard practice – until you find one you are happy with and then LOOK AFTER THEM …

Tapping Into The Tribal Age Of The Internet

We had a great teleconference call yesterday with Our Internet Secrets faculty member, Janet Beckers. She shared her insightful and inspirational wisdom about how you can build a profitable business community around your passion.

Andrew and I love listening to Janet talking about how she has turned her passion for people’s stories into a tight knit online community via her award winning business www.wonderfulwebwomen.com. She has truly understood how you look after your tribe – or community of people who are passionate about the same things as you.

The key points Janet shared with our members yesterday are:

Congruency – you must have congruency between your values, your viewpoint and your actions
Joint Ventures - who you associate with is a reflection of you – make sure these people are congruent with your message
Engage Your Community – set challenges to your community to participate in. This helps you and helps them learn knew skills.
The Fourth Win Test - Win:Win:Win:Win

One of the examples Janet gave in the teleseminar was how she interviewed one of her joint venture partners who uses video on YouTube to promote her business. Janet said she was put on the spot because she wasn’t doing this herself as she felt it was too stressful.

What she learned was – just be yourself – be authentic and people will resonate with this. So using her 4th Win Test knowledge Janet turned this crisis into a business building opportunity. She decided to do it! And also immediately challenged her community to make a video, too. She gave them specific instructions.

It had to be all about them – them sharing with people what their passion is or business is about.

They had to mention once in the video wonderful web women – and put the hyperlink. After 7 days there was a gift of a digital product from the JV partner and Janet put links on her blog to their urls.

After 7 days there were 60 videos posted on YouTube with a link to Janet’s site.

Janet has discovered that when you use the Fourth Win Test you will explode your business with the help of your community.

How To Buy, Renovate And Sell A Business

Hey folks, we had a great teleconference call today with our new faculty members, Matt and Liz Radd, who were chatting about their passion — buying, renovating and selling businesses.

There are 5 areas of value you need to look at when starting up, buying or selling a business. They are the:

List
System
Property
Brand
Intellectual Property

Matt and Liz pointed out that the best place to buy and sell businesses online is at http://flippa.com/.

One example they gave was buying traffic for another site or business that you have. In their example, someone bought a website that was getting 27,000 unique clicks / month for $390 … that’s about 1.5cents per click. That’s pretty impressive. And that’s just for the first month – then there’s no cost for the clicks after that.

You can build an online portfolio of virtual real estate … similar to building a bricks and mortar real estate portfolio. Matt and Liz show you how you can do this quickly – and get fast results. In an online business, if you are making $100 per month online … you can expect to sell that business for around 10 x that amount – $1000. But you need to know how to market it to get the maximum price.

Another example given today was of someone who actually sold their online business for 22 x the monthly income. Now, that’s worth knowing how that happened.
