Day 1 – Friday 8 April: “How to Design your Kids Business”

  • We know you’re going to learn best by looking at other successful kids businesses. So we’ll be interviewing a bunch of teenage business owners (many of them are already millionaires!) so you can get a feel for what they’re doing that’s made them so successful
  • Once you’ve come up with your idea you need to know whether it’s going to be a winner or a dud. We’ll show you the 10 things a great kids business must have to succeed, so you can spot if you’re onto a winner
  • There’ll be lots of activities and games so there’s never a dull moment!
  • We’ll finish up day one by showing you how to make your first sales really quickly – using these things you may even be making money before the end of the weekend!

Day 2 – Saturday 9 April: “How to Build your Kids Business”

  • Whether you’re selling physical products, digital products, or services, you need to be able to create them quickly, cheaply and easily. We’ll show you exactly how we do that so your business is up and running in no time
  • Next you need an awesome website – we show you the latest tools you can use to quickly build websites that don’t just look great – they really sell!
  • Now it’s time to roll out your marketing. But where to start? We show you the different types of marketing you can use, and what’s working best right now
  • We wrap up the day with the very latest in Facebook marketing. We know that Facebook changes all the time. Our Facebook guru Kerry Fitzgibbon will show you the latest changes, and what’s working now.

Day 3 – Sunday 10 April: “How to Market your Kids Business”

  • One of the advantages of being a kid in business is that it’s easy to get free press. Do this right and you can skyrocket your business overnight with appearances on TV and radio, as well as in magazines, newspapers and news websites

Final agenda for the membership site workshop

We’ve been putting the finishing touches to the agenda. There’ll be lots of demos and practical exercises, so bring along your best membership site ideas and we’ll help you tweak them to make them super-successful.

We’ll be showing you step-by-step how to create a membership site really quickly (the record is just THREE DAYS from concept to cash!). Here’s what we’re covering each day.

Day 1 – Plan it

  • Choose a winning topic from the outset. Get this wrong and all your hard work will be wasted
  • Come up with a no-brainer offer – one that makes people go “I’d be crazy NOT to buy this!”
  • Test if your site is a winner even before you do any of the hard work, by “selling it before you build it”
  • Exactly what to put on each page of your website to lead more people to buy

Day 2 – Build it

  • Get your membership site ready to make sales in 3 days or less – with our system it’s really quick and easy to go from concept to cash
  • Write content every week that keeps your members coming back for more, and it only takes about 90 minutes a week
  • How to use the latest Facebook marketing to get high converting traffic to your membership site (even if you’re starting from scratch)

Tip #4: How to quickly and easily create content for your membership site

Some people we talk to seem to think that membership sites are hard work – that you need to create lots and lots of content before you make any money.

Well, using our system that’s simply not the case!

Because we use a “drip feed” model, where we send the content as weekly lessons, you only need to create one lesson a week to keep things bubbling along. We’ll show you all the details at our workshop next month. Here’s the link to book your place if you haven’t yet done so:

And here are some suggestions on quick ways to create those weekly lessons. Each lesson should take you no longer than 90 minutes to prepare from start to finish. If it’s taking any longer than that then you’re over-engineering it!

Here are some ideas on quick lesson-building:

  1. Describe the steps in a process that you have developed or used. You’re after something specific, that gives your members a quick win, and of course is something they really want to know! Here are some examples so you can see what we mean: how to plan a kid’s party, whiten your teeth naturally, outsource a writing job, Feng Sui your garden, interview an expert, etc, etc. The process should have 6-8 steps, be something that your members can complete in under an hour, and provide tangible results.
  2. Examine a case study. People love to see examples of success – especially if you can pull it apart and show why it was successful. If you don’t have case studies of your own clients, then look for relevant stories on Facebook or in the news. An eclass describing “The five things they did right” would work well for topics like these: a crowdfunding success story, a Facebook complaint that was handled well, a newbie running a high-converting webinar.
  3. Product review. Do you use a product that you really like, and that makes your life easier / makes you more money? If it’s relevant to your membership site, then write about it. Introduce the product, then answer these questions about it: What does it do? How do you use it? What results did you get from it? What are its best features? What don’t you like about it? What does it cost? Where do you get it? Of course if you include an affiliate link then you may also generate an income from your recommendation.

And if you’re great at coming up with ideas, but not so good at writing them down…record yourself talking about it, and then get the audio transcribed. This costs about $20, and we’ll show you exactly how to do it at the workshop.

Thirty minutes of audio will turn into a good sized eclass. But remember to plan out what you’re going to say first, by jotting down 6-8 brief bullet points. That way your eclass is well structured and easy to follow. Hint: give the bullet points to your transcriptionist to make their job easier!

We’ll run through these and lots more easy ways to create lessons for your membership site at the workshop.

Tip #3: The best way to market your membership site

We’re often asked “Once I set up my membership site, what’s the best way to grow it quickly?”. The answer depends on a few things – there are more details below. We’ll also be spending a lot of time at the upcoming workshop showing you how to market your membership site. If you haven’t yet booked your place, here’s the link:

We test and measure lots of ways to market membership sites. What we find is that there is a huge difference in conversion rate depending on the type of marketing you do.

Basically, warmer traffic results in a higher conversion rate.

Here are our stats:

  • Speaking from stage – 40-50% (ie 40 – 50% of people who hear your message, end up buying)
  • Webinars – 20-30%
  • Emails to your own list, or someone else’s list – 10%
  • Social media – 5%
  • Cold traffic, eg free traffic from Google, Google Adwords – 1%

All of this of course depends on you having the right offer, targeted at the right people.

So what does this mean for you?

If you love the idea of speaking in front of groups, then speaking opportunities and webinars are the best place to start. You’ll fill your membership site quickly with just a few talks. You will need to create a killer presentation and offer, and we’ll show you exactly how to do that at the event in December.

If you hate the idea of speaking in front of a group, then emails are the best way to go. If you don’t have your own list then hunt out other people who’d be happy to promote you. Again, we’ll show you how to find and approach list owners at the event – it’s easier than you think, and can be VERY profitable if you do it right.

If none of that appeals to you, then Facebook marketing is a great option. At the event we’ll show you the very latest ways to promote your membership site on Facebook. But beware – there are a few traps for the unwary. We’ll show you how to avoid the pitfalls, and make sure you get cheap, highly targeted, warm traffic to your membership site.

Tip #2: How to create a membership site in as little as 3 days

Yes, it is possible to go from “concept to cash” in as little as 3 days with a membership site. We’ve done it numerous times, and so have our clients!

We’ll be demonstrating how to do it in detail at our up-coming workshop. If you haven’t yet booked your place at the workshop here’s the link:

The key to monetising your membership site quickly is to start by building just the things you need in order to launch your site. And once you’ve done that, to focus on your marketing.

Here’s how we build a membership site in just three days:

Day One:

  • Plan your membership site in detail. For your site to sell it needs to stand out from the crowd, provide overwhelming value, and provide real solutions to customers’ problems. We have a structured process we go through to identify these – and we’ll give you that process at the workshop
  • Design your website. We design the look and feel, and choose the domain name. It’s vital that these appeal to your market. We’ll give you our templates at the workshop
  • Decide on your offer. We use a 5 step process to come up with a “wow” offer. One that makes your customers go “I’d be stupid not to buy this!”. We then list out the components of the offer to create the Sign Up page of the membership site

Day Two:

  • Prepare the rest of your website. This includes components such as an opt in page to collect name and email, good quality content that you gift to potential members, testimonials (if you have them), Frequently Asked Questions, images, and videos if necessary

Day Three:

  • Prepare the first piece of content that members get when they join. With our system, members get one lesson a week for as long as they stay a member. One question we often get is “how long should a weekly lesson be?”. The answer is – long enough that members can get some wins each week in about an hour of implementing what you’ve taught.
  • Prepare and send your initial marketing, eg an email to your list or Facebook page. You only need to promote to about 200 people to start with, so you don’t need a massive list.

Joanna Martin and Greg Elliott created their membership site in just 3 days, emailed their list of 200 people and had 16 sales within the first 24 hours – that’s $800 a month from day one.

But of course if you have a bigger list then your results can be much higher. When Paul and Mary Balckburn launched their first membership site they sold 400 places on day one, for a total income of almost $20,000 a month.

How To Fail Like a Champion – What To Do When Things Go Wrong In Your Internet Business

Failure is an integral part of your success and everyone has to experience it at some point. Today we want to look at managing failure and ask “how do successful people manage failure?”

Hello, Andrew Grant here with a special guest post today!

Whatever path you choose in life, you’ll have to deal with roadblocks and challenges. Having owned and run several successful businesses and having helped clients in all industries succeed, one of the key attributes is learning how to ‘fail’ like a champion!

Today I’d like to share some key thoughts on the topic of embracing failures as part of your journey.

Over time I’ve had a number of people coming to me and they’ve been disappointed that things haven’t worked – even though they have done everything right. They’ve followed the system – but it didn’t work.

The difference between success and failure – is how you manage yourself at this point.

How you fail and manage this failure gives you the foundation for how you succeed in the future. In other words – how you manage failure is your measure.

When we use the word failure – this is what we are talking about. If you have a successful mindset you are probably not relating to this word at all. The real successful people – relate to failure – as another step in the process. It’s not an end in itself.

To give you an example of this:

• The inventor of the light bulb – Thomas Edison – is reported to have tried over 2,000 different ways of making the light bulb work.

• I want you to think back yourself – when was the last time you tried something 2,000 – getting 1,999 failures and were still encouraged to move onto the next step?

• How does someone like Thomas Edison – keep going 2000 particularly if someone is saying that it can’t be done.

• There are a whole bunch of reasons why Thomas Edison could have given up – but he didn’t.

• “I’m not discouraged because with every wrong step I’ve just found 10,000 ways to make it work!”

• Many of lifes failures are because they did not realize how close they were to success before they gave up.

How can some people make Internet businesses work – and other people don’t?!

Daryl and I give say 10 people a step by step process – and there will be 10 different interpretations of what we have said. People interpret what they want to into things and put their own slant on it. This is not a bad thing – it’s what makes us unique. If you give a song to 10 artists – they’ll interpret it in 10 different ways

When it comes to a process or formula – sometimes the slant or access we put on that formula has a crippling effect to the outcome of that system. I ask people – how much is your success due to what you know or what you think you know and your attitude. 90% comes down to your mind set.

The how to is a small part of the overall success – so if you are bringing your headspace to it with the right attitude – then you need to understand that this is a big part of your success factor. Sometimes it’s not just good enough to do the steps, you have to do the steps with the right intent. Understand failure is part of that.

Daryl and I tell you when launching into a new niche – out of 20 possible ideas when we are originally brainstorming – 1 is a goer. When we put those 20 down on paper – we think they are all great. In fact, some that generally fail – I often think are fantastic. Inherently, we have 19 failures to one success. You want to fail small and quickly and roll out and consolidate on the big winners.

Recognise that you are going to have some failures – and not everything is going to work. Don’t get hung up on the failures and don’t take it personally and certainly don’t take it as an indictment of who you are! Champions know they are champions – they have a belief that they have failed in an attempt at that point – but they are not a failure.

How do you think about yourself when something fails – do you think “I am not very clever” or “I can’t do this”? Where is your head when you can’t get something to work for you? Most other people look outside themselves and blame others. Don’t fall prey to the victim mindset. It doesn’t serve you and does not exist in a successful persons mindset.

Whenever you do something new or challenging and get outside your comfort zone – this is when this stuff crops up.
This is certainly true for Daryl and I. For me – being in business is one of the best personal development courses out there. If you really want even more of a challenge go into business with your partner!

We have a couple of processes to identify the problem and to change it. One we use and endorse is described below:
This technique is a 7 step process.

Once you identify an issue – that goes a long way towards solving it – we find it super charges the results if you change it and replace it with something else. this is because unless you shift the problem at a subconscious level you don’t make much change.

The Sedona Method works very quickly and another method is time tracking – it is a longer method, but works very effectively. The first time I did this I felt it was too easy – and couldn’t possibly have worked. It makes a huge difference – don’t be surprised though if at first it doesn’t feel like it has made a difference.

Get into a relaxed state – into your alpha or meditative state – you need to have time to spend on you, in a place where you can’t be interrupted.

If you identify that the belief is not still serving you, you can change it using the Sedona method:
1. Describe the emotion (eg frustration, shame)—what does it look like, how big is it, what colour is it?
2. Put your hand on where the emotion sits in your body. It may be a grey thing – clutched around your throat – or a heavy basketball in your stomach – or a restricting wetsuit.
a. Visualise it
b. In a meditative state – really experience it as something real
c. Then answer these questions:
3. If you were given the opportunity to let this feeling go, could you?
4. If you were given the opportunity to let this feeling go, would you?
5. If you would let it go, when would you?
a. If 3, 4 and 5 is yes – go to step 6
6. Use a symbolic way to let go of that feeling – feel yourself and visualise yourself getting rid of it.
a. Once you’ve done that it’s important to fill the vacuum with something.
b. Use a symbolic way to replace the old feeling with a new feeling, to fill the vacuum
c. If you don’t replace it with something else – it will come back.
7. Repeat the process if the feeling has moved but is not yet positive, eg moved from fear to anxiety.
a. Sometimes you have diminished it – but it’s still negative
b. Go through the steps again and work on the new feeling and replace it with a positive one

It can be done in 10-15 minutes. I use this and it makes a world of difference.

Remember, if you are not failing – you are probably not doing anything!

To me that is scarier than not doing anything!
